Nordic Walking: 9.1.06

Yes, me and Emma went for an hour worth of Nordic Walking (cross-country skiing without the skis). It was great, walking on the snowy paths and in the woods. Was clearish weather and all, not too cold either.

The idea with walking with the sticks is that using your upper body in it actually causes your metabolism to soar. Simply put, “dementia skiing” burns as many calories as jogging. Really.

Lovely. Maybe we’ll do it again soon!

Looks like fun. I’d get a few looks if I tried walking with the sticks in 2cm of snow here - that’s about all we ever get :)

It is kinda fun..! For one thing, you get more speed while using your arms for extra leverage, plus it really only feels like normal walking (except for the fact you’re sporting skiing-sticks in your hands).
What you really ought to try is running with them. :) Uphill, preferably. Repeatedly. Snow and ice is optional in this case… :D Or, what some crazy Finns do: run in a swamp with the sticks. Now that is some heavy-ass stuff!
